The tragic accident that occurred on July 23 between a van and a car claimed a second victim on Sunday night. After the death of Louis Rody Guilliano Magasin, 27, Gino Broutier succumbed to his injuries at Flacq hospital.
An autopsy performed by Dr Sudesh Kumar Gungadin attributed the death of the car driver to skull fracture. The van driver was released on bail after he was arrested under a provisional charge of voluntary homicide. The alcotest performed on him was negative.
The accident took place during the night when the van was ferrying 10 persons to a marriage in the region of Sans Souci. According to the passengers, when the van reached Sans Souci, they saw a car that was coming at breakneck speed.
They also witnessed the car drive straight into the van. The car driver, Broutier lost control of the vehicle and hit the van, which was completely damaged.
