The Truth and Justice Commission (TJC) will meet in its next public hearing at St Augustine church at Rivière Noire.
The commission will be chaired by its vice president Dr Vijaya Teelock since Alex Borraine is travelling abroad for medical reasons.
Teelock said that she will chair the commission till April and said that they will be present in many regions of the island to listen to the problems faced by the people.
She added, “Last year, we focussed on issues such as loss of land and now we will listen to other problems faced by the people.”
She also announced that they will visit Cité La Mivoie in order to see the living conditions of residents.
The commission also undertakes research in fields such as slaves, race, culture, ethnicity, education and social justice
Since its creation in 2010, the TJC has undertaken more than 100 hearings in both Mauritius and Rodrigues.
It has also been called to enquire about slavery during the colonial era and to submit its report.
The report will be submitted in July to th President of the Republic, Sir Anerood Jugnauth.
The Truth and Justice Commission will also design appropriate measures in order to improve the conditions of lives of slaves.
