Coinciding with the Certificate of Primary Education exams, the Form III national examinations will start on Tuesday.
Mauritius Examination Syndicate (MES) director Mahadeo Ramnohur said that students from 33 secondary schools will sit for the exams. The third term examinations are being conducted on a pilot basis.
Four subjects are concerned namely English, French, Mathematics and Computer Science and schools have already received timetables from the MES.
All exams have been scheduled to start at 9am to end at 10.45 am On Tuesday, the students sit for the English paper, on Wednesday the French paper, on Thursday the Mathematics paper and on Friday, students sit for the Computer Science exams. All exam papers were prepared by the MES.
Ramnohur said that the exam papers will be marked in schools but added that teachers who worked with Form III students during the academic year will not be able to access them.
Union of Private Secondary Education Employees chairman Yahya Paraouty disagrees with this reform. He deplored the fact that discussions did not occur between union representatives and the Ministry of Education. He added that all colleges are not of the same academic level.
Paraouty said he is worried about what will become of students who fail the Form III exams twice.

i am 14 years old and I’ve sit for these papers.
i am really glad with this project, the papers are easy.
but the students in my school have been trained for much harder papers thus helping us for the Cambridge exams.
these papers are too easy for 14 years students!
i am not against this project but the papers should be slightly harder.
many students will vote for it because the MES papers are really easy, but personally, i would prefer my school to prepare the end of year papers!
I am 14 years old and i do not agree with this project because the MES have to ask us that in form 1. Now there are students in my class who are stressed. Why they testing this project on form 3 2011? They should do this project on the form 3 2013 and ask them now. I can see that many students will fail the exams this year.
i guess you are right and in 3rd term we’ve got the new syllabus and this is really not fair.. i think we should have got ready since the begging of the year!!!…

I am 14 years old and i agree with that project because we must know our weakness. So better we test it now or never because we have a very big opportunity this year.That is how I see that new choice of the MES we know that they will not change their choice So
i’m 14 and would like to have a kind of mock paper to know the level of the end of year exams also i would like to know on what date will the exams start.

i d0nt agry with this because many students are not well prepared for this and this project must have been told to us when we were in form 3 so that we can garanty to past now we dont know if we gonna past or fail…I DISAGRY WITH THIS PROJECT!!!

I’m 15 yr old ,This project is very good for the form 3 students ,in order to know their capacity in different subject:English,french.maths,IT,CHemistry,biology and physics,they must prepare themselves very well ,because this year it will be a bit more difficult than last year. Best LuCK to all

it’s good to know our weakness but its too bulky to learn a 3 yrs syllabus in 1 yr as we have been informed this year itself. many students are not well prepared we should have been informed since 2009. we dont even have all the books

Im nearly 14..! Im sitting for he national exams…It’s important for every1 to give their opinion but putting thse comments..ur wasting ur time! In my opinion we should go for it!!! Best Student since two years..I want to test myself now…! But one prob is that the paper will be marked at school…I guess there’ll be many probs…It would be bttr if it was crrected at the mes itself…!

Well, i completely disagree with this project of the MES. Though the papers seem to be easy ones, it imposes on we students. We have to make a serious decision based on the subjects that we are undertaking for form4 as well as form5 and some might be choosing the economic side or perhaps the art side. Those students are trying to do their best in that field and are thus concentrating more on it than the sciences and MES has included the sciences which frustrates us as there are so many subjects to revise and in addition they must make a best in the sciences. We are not robots!

and 4 me 14 years old i think that the papers will be as easy as the other form 3 paper. cause if you have passed form 1,2 you just need to focus on fORm3 now. just see the syllabus and revise dear. and as for me am very confident for the exams which starts on Monday 24 oct!!!!! man really hate these exams (as if they are running away from me):)

I agree with MES. but it is not important this national assement but we have all kind or students in all college.
I have to recome a thing that some silabus have been never done those students who are weak they have not do this silabus in there sudject. But I agreed with MES
