HTC's Windows Mobile 6.5 laden HD2 is undoubtedly the company's most powerful cellphone offering till date.
The spec sheet of the device runs in pages and apart from having the largest screen ever to grace a cell phone, it also packs in the fastest processor around along with humongous amount of RAM. It also has a capacitive display and a start button on the fascia.
All these things make it obvious that the HD2 can in fact run Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Series with relative ease – as it meets Microsoft’s requirements to be Windows Phone 7 ready. An image purportedly showing the HD2 running WP7S was leaked yesterday leading to further speculations if this was indeed possible. While the image turned out to be fake, many people were left with a lingering doubt if not officially, would there be custom ROM’s that can possibly bring the WP7S experience to the HD2?
That doubt was partially answered by a tweet from the official Windows Phone 7 Twitter account that said “to everyone asking about HD2 & Windows Phone 7 Series; nothing announced yet but there may be info coming next month”.
Now, we are not sure what this means – but can speculate that Microsoft and HTC *might* just bring an update that will make the HD2 fully WP7S ready. That would only be befitting such a powerful multimedia handset as the HD2. So, here are we are waiting for March to arrive – just to hear what HTC/Microsoft plan to do about this.
